As I watched the video of 22 year old Sung Bong Choi on Korea's Got Talent Ep. 1, my tears started to accumulate and trickled down my cheeks. He's got an amazing voice but that's not the reason I cried. It was because of his background, which made me believe that hope comes before salvation and triumph. Oh, and also because of the two female judges, they cried real good.
According to him, he was left at an orphanage at the age of 3, ran away at 5 after being beaten, and lived all by himself on the streets since then, doing odd jobs and selling gum and energy drinks.
After watching the video twice, and cried twice, I proceeded to read the comments. Amazingly, up to now, 71 people disliked the video. Sorting through the comments I learned that some people thought Sung-Bong Choi was either a fake or a publicity stunt by the network. One thing's for sure though, his voice and talent is REAL.
I always have the impression that the South Korean Population are all well taken care of, either by themselves or by the government. Adding to the 'all is well' scenario are the Korean Drama with line ups of good looking people, not to mention the K-Pop scene.
However, it doesn't take much to get back to reality and discover that hardship is everywhere. Homelessness is a global issue and kind hearted people are doing their part to help and raise the awareness. In his article, "Sociology of the homeless in Seoul, Korea", Daniel Lim began with...
QUOTE "There are approximately 1 million homeless individuals in Seoul, and 300 at Seoul Station, which is a major landmark in Seoul. That’s very intriguing because the population of greater Seoul is 24.5 million people. That means 1 in every 25 people is homeless in Seoul." END QUOTE
It is an interesting observation from an outreach to the homeless done by his group in Seoul.
So, back to our talented Sung-Bung Choi, I will continue to believe that his story is true until proven wrong. I'm sure there are many curious individuals out there who has the time and resources to prove once and for all whether he's real or otherwise.
In the meantime, grab a tissue and click play.

Problem Solved with Nokia DT-28
.
I have been depressed about my 4 year old phone because of it's charging difficulty. It's been bugging me for almost three months now and I've bought two batteries so far, with one non-original battery recently destroyed due to frustration... Batteries and chargers are affordable, but phones are expensive. I'm not ready to buy a new phone.
It used to be able to charge with a nudge at the plug point but today it wouldn't charge at all. Imagine the frustration of trying to charge your phone when you need it the most. Let alone the fact that your phone is always half dead. Imagine charging your phone before bed only to find it dead stiff in the morning...
I was thinking of ways to charge the battery externally. I even thought of hacking an old nokia phone to perform a jump-start using hard wiring... until I googled 'stand-alone nokia charger'. They call it desk top charger.
I found out that there is such product. Haha... ignorant me. Heck, I've been so used to charging my phone directly that I am completely unaware of the existence of this life saver.
So I eagerly went to Digital Mall Section 14 and asked three phone sales booth till I found DT-28, which cost only RM20.
JOY!

Doesn't it look pretty? It comes with multiple jack inlet for whatever charger you're currently using, provided your charger is functioning of course. The wall mount charger or USB cable is not included.
One Charger to rule them all...
